Greetings of the New Year, 2017

Happy New Year!!
This is Tomomi from KIMONO TIME YUU providing the kimono dressing experience in Yokohama.
I appreciate all the help that you gave me last year. I look forward to your continued good will in the coming year.

KIMONO TIME YUU’s going to be 3 years this year. Fortunately new students to practice to wear a kimono increase. I want to continue cherishing them and meeting some new member. And I could study halal for Muslim. The tourists of the Muslim increase in Japan, but I know nothing about Islam. I think Study does not have the end. I want to continue studying various things that I didn’t know.

Without forgetting the value of what I should do now I want to challenge something new.

I wish all of you have happy this year, 2017.

Last month, I could update this blog regularly. And some inquiry has begun to increase. I know updating my blog is meaningful for my business, but it is too difficult for me to continue it. Now update has stopped. I like to learn about something but I think I don’t have ability to continue something. I hope I know some skill to continue to update my blog.

Let’s take the test of the kimono. I think that we need to realize our growth.

This is Tomomi from Kimono Time Yuu providing the kimono dressing experience in Yokohama.

One of my students is twenties lady. She took the test of kimono in my school. I checked whether she was able to wear a kimono for 15 mins and got some knowledge of kimono.

When she came to my kimono school, she only wants to were a kimono. But she wants to know more about how to were a kimono as well as kimonos each time she knows how to were a kimono. She enjoys my kimono class and going to somewhere in a kimono.

In my school, I have some test of a kimono after you have my class 20 times. Some people is surprised at some test. They say ‘it’s just hobby’. But I recommend to take the test. Because we can feel our own growth and become more fun. When I went to kimono school, I took some test of kimono. I was able to acquire skill or knowledge of kimono and enjoy it each time I took a test. I think we need to take some test.

We, KIMONO TIME YUU help you to get skill or knowledge of kimono. If you are interested in a kimono, let’s enjoy with me.

Better season of kimonos

Better season of kimonos

Better season of kimonos

This is Tomomi from Kimono Time Yuu providing the kimono dressing experience in Yokohama.

Good season is coming to dress up and go out in a kimono.
Why do you know that I say that?

Because kimonos are closely related to the seasons of the year. Kimonos are the clothes which value a season. I think it’s one of views with four seasons in Japan.

There are mainly two types of how to sew a kimono called ‘Hitoe, unlined kimono’ and ‘Awase, a lined kimono’. We change into ‘Hitoe’ like summer clothes in June and ‘Awase’ like winter clothes’ in October. It’s the same as a school uniform in Japan. We change into summer school uniform on the first day of June and winter school uniform on the first day of October.
The first part, good season to wear a kimono and go out in it is from October. Because we feel good weather and we change into ‘Awase’. Kimono is expensive and it’s more difficult to saw it than Hitoe, so we often have only ‘Awase’, and we can wear it for 8 months from October to May longer than ‘Hitoe’ too. Some people say that is rule. But I don’t think that. I think it’s wisdom and dress smartly.

By the way, we recruit new members for a kimono wearing class of KIMONO TIME YUU in November.

Do you know the difference between a yukata and a kimono?

A yukata and wooden clogs

A yukata and wooden clogs

This is Tomomi from Kimono Time Yuu providing the kimono dressing experience in Yokohama.

I think the kimono is the traditional national costume of Japan and a part of the fashion. It is expressed that the wisdom that has been cultivated by ancestor. I think It is important for us to know tradition. But the fashion does not have a correct answer and the non-correct answer. I feel it is necessary for a kimono to have the both sides of following a tradition and making innovation.

By the way, do you know the difference between yukata and kimono? I want to give a quiz. Which do you think is correct?

  1. The difference between yukata and kimono is a structure, in other words method of tailoring or sewing.
  2.  The difference between yukata and kimono is a material or a pattern.
  3. The Difference between yukata and kimono is the way to wear.

Kabuki which I recommended for a Kabuki beginner

Kabuki theater

Kabuki theater

This is Tomomi from Kimono Time Yuu providing the kimono dressing experience in Yokohama.
I went to see a kabuki play in Kabuki theater of Tokyo, Kabukiza on this month. The kabuki program is Yoshitune SenbonzakuraIt is one of the popular and  famous program.  I think many people are satisfied with spectacular production and his brisk motion in performance of a actor, Ennosuke. I was amazed his physical strength.
We generally make a reservation to get the ticket of Kabuki. But we can get some tickets sold on the day of the performance called Makumi (single act ticket). It’s very cheaper than usual tickets. I think you can enjoy it easily.
